We will feature an interactive looking and listening session of images from the Photographs & Prints Division and selections from the Moving Image and Recorded Sound Division that engage Dr. King's thoughts on love.As he noted, the Greek concept of agape, which he identified as the highest form of love, “is more than romantic love. Agape is more than friendship. Agape is not something affectionate. Agape is understanding creative redemptive goodwill for all men.”The session will take place in the Reading Room of Photographs & Prints Division.Header Image: unidentified photographer, 1965, Martin Luther King, Jr. portrait collection, Photographs and Prints Division, Schomburg CenterAbout the Photographs and Prints DivisionThe Photographs and Prints Division enables researchers to work directly with original, rare, and unique visual source materials documenting the history and culture of people of African descent worldwide. The collections are particularly strong in the genres of documentary and photojournalism.
