In this unflinching debut collection, Adedayo Agarau confronts the harrowing reality of ritual killings and child abductions that have terrorized Nigeria from the turbulent pre-democratic era to the present day.Adedayo will be joined in conversation by Hauwa Shaffi Nuhu. Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Adedayo will also sign copies of The Years of Blood.AVAILABLE TO SHIP MOST PLACESThis is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.Doors open at 6:30pm.Cost of a $5 general admission ticket can be applied towards your purchase of the featured event book or any product in our café the night of an event.Cost of a book bundle ticket reflects the total cost of the feature event book (MSRP plus tax). Each book bundle ticket guarantees ticket holders one (1) copy of the feature event book.Books will be for sale at the event.The talk will be followed by a book signing. We ship most places!We encourage all guests to wear masks.ABOUT THE AUTHORAdedayo Agarau is the author of “The Years of Blood,” winner of the Poetic Justice Institute Editor’s Prize for BIPOC Writers (Fordham University Press, Fall 2025). He is a Wallace Stegner Fellow ‘25, a Cave Canem Fellow and a 2024 Ruth Lilly-Rosenberg Fellowship finalist. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Agbowó Magazine: A Journal of African Literature and Art and a Poetry Reviews Editor for The Rumpus. He is the author of the chapbooks “Origin of Name” (African Poetry Book Fund, 2020) and “The Arrival of Rain” (Vegetarian Alcoholic Press, 2020).ABOUT THE MODERATORHauwa Shafil Nuhu is a poet and storyteller from Nigeria with by-lines in several international publications. Her chapbook of poetry, Sister, was selected and published by the prestigious African Poetry Book Fund in collaboration with Akashic Books in 2021. As a journalist, she is the Managing Editor at HumAngle Media, where her work examines the human cost of terrorism and violence. She is a 2024 Ochberg Fellow, a 2025 FASPE fellow, among several others.
