LEGASPI:Joseph O. Legaspi is a poet, the author of two full-length poetry collections and two full-length poetry chapbooks. He is a Fulbright scholar and two-time NYSCA/New York Foundation for the Arts poetry fellow. He teaches creative writing at NYU and Fordham and is assistant to the administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes at Columbia University. He is a juror of the Neustadt International Prize for Literature. Legaspi was born in the Philippines, moved to Los Angeles with his family at age twelve, and received a BA from Loyola Marymount University there; then he received an MFA from New York University’s creative writing program and relocated to New York City. With the poet Sarah Gambito, he co-founded Kundiman, a national organization serving generations of writers and readers of Asian American literature. His poem "Ode to My Mother's Hair" was anthologized in Language for a New Century (W.W. Norton) and his poem "Somebody" appeared in Poem-A-Day from the Academy of American Poets.
