The film follows Drake, a young gay man who escapes life-threatening violence in Uganda, and 11 strangers from Vancouver's queer community who unite to support his resettlement.The documentary explores a year-long journey for personal freedom while documenting the complex dynamics between the newcomer and his support circle. Their efforts are heavily tested by conflicting expectations, the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the challenges of cultural integration.Guests are also invited to explore a pop-up art display in the foyer featuring works by artists with lived refugee experience.
