Why this day? Guru Purnima is celebrated on the first full moon after the summer solstice—the brightest 24 hours of the year. Just as this full moon lights the world at its most radiant, the Guru is the remover of darkness, illuminating the way to truth, joy, and liberation.

✨ Thursday, July 10, is Guru Purnima itself, and we’ll mark the occasion with the culmination of our 30-day Maha Mrityunjai Anuṣṭhān—a sacred offering of nightly mantra and weekly fire ceremonies, all performed in honor of Baba, our Guru and wellspring of wisdom. This final ritual brings together the collective power of a month of devotion, healing, and Yogic intention. It’s a rare and potent evening not to be missed.

? Thursday and Friday also include a special seva project: restoring the Ashram’s sacred pradakshina trails. Join us in this joyful offering—where giving to the Guru becomes a path of transformation.

? Then on Saturday, July 12, the celebration bursts forth! Ceremony, chanting, sauna, satsang, and incredible vegan feasting await you at our Guru Purnima Festival Day—a chance to dive deep into Yogic life and rediscover the joy of walking a true path.

Main Festival Day:

Our biggest day of celebration—ceremony, chanting, sauna, satsang, and a feast! If you can only come for one day, make it this one!

Volunteer Seva Days:
? Thursday & Friday, July 10–11 Trail restoration, shared meals, and the powerful closing of our 30-day Anuṣṭhān on Thursday night.

Retreat Extension:
? Sunday, July 13 An extra day for reflection, connection, and soaking in the spirit of the weekend.

Why Guru Purnima?
This sacred festival is dedicated to all Gurus. Gurus are dispellers of darkness. They are the essence of wisdom and enlightenment, eternally willing to help us through confusion and guide us toward the light of reality.

Guru Purnima is a sacred time to honor the wisdom of the Guru and pay homage to the timeless teachings that carry us forward. At Sat Manav Yoga Ashram, we also celebrate the birth of our own Guru, Baba, whose birthday falls just before Guru Purnima, on July 6th—making this celebration all the more personal, potent, and profound.
