Students and adults alike will discover the Indian River Lagoon by land and sea! Dolphins, manatees, birds, and other marine life may be encountered as the naturalist describes the lagoon and inhabitants aboard our 40 person pontoon. Participants will disembark onto a remote island in the lagoon to explore in depth. Each month will focus on a different topic, providing an engaging educational experience.

This program is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. once each month throughout the school year.

K-12th grade | $25 per person
Minimum number of participants required for program to occur.
Students must be accompanied by an adult. Students AND adults must pay and register as participants.

April 8 • Endangered Species
What makes the Indian River Lagoon an estuary of national importance and what endangered species live here?

September 23 • Barrier Islands
Barrier islands like the ones along the lagoon are an important line of defense against hurricanes. Come learn about what makes something a barrier island, how they form, and why they are important.

October 21 • Ocean Zones
The various zones of the ocean support different life forms, some life can even thrive in the deepest depths of the sea. Come learn about the sea from the sunlight zone all the way to the deep, dark abyss!

November 18 • Thankful for the IRL
How the Indian River Lagoon supports our daily lives as a buffer, a nursery, and a filter. Show some gratitude with us for this wonderful ecosystem!

December 9 • Ocean Acidification
What does it mean for the ocean to be getting more acidic and how does it happen? Come learn more and find out how you can be part of the solution.
