- **Event Description**: The DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event is a coordinated effort between participating organizations to collect expired, unwanted, or unused prescription medications and other medications for destruction. Take Back Day is a free event for communities nationwide to properly dispose of old and unneeded medications safely and anonymously on Saturday, October 25th, from 10am-2pm.
Expired, unwanted, or unused prescription medications are a public safety issue. Proper disposal of unneeded drugs saves lives and protects the environment and our overall community.
Can't make it to this event? 

Until November 1st 2025, The New Smyrna Beach Police Department will keep a secure lock box in the lobby of the police department that is available during business hours (Mon-Fri 8am-5:30pm, excluding holidays) for convenient disposal of pharmaceuticals.  Our drop box is being removed on November 1st, as there are other local businesses such as Publix and Walmart that now have secure prescription drop boxes in their pharmacies during business hours.
