# Event Details

- **Event Name**: October “Done Something” Meetup — Saskia Thornton: Founder Talk
- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 28 Oct, 2026 at 05:30 pm – Wed, 28 Oct, 2026 at 07:00 pm (+13:00)
- **Event Description**: Cheese, beer, bikes, business — and parenthood ...

Saskia Thornton's founder journey started straight out of university with Mad Millie, a DIY cheesemaking kit that hit $1m revenue in its first 18 months. She went on to help take Grainfather into 30+ countries, and later co-founded electric motorcycle company FTN Motion. (And Doso is fortunate now to have Saskia on our Board.)

She has quite the CV. But here's a chance to spend time with the human behind it.

What did she learn from building brands and businesses from scratch? How does she now run a successful strategy business while bringing up a two-year-old? And after spending much of her time in Amsterdam, what brought her back to settle in Taranaki?

Join us for pizza, drinks and mingling, plus a conversation about the gritty realities of building things, making choices, getting things wrong and figuring out what success actually looks like along the way.

Thanks to sponsors New Plymouth District Council and Manifold Coworking Space for making these community events possible.
