Today, the Marigny is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a city-designated historic district, due to its preservation of Creole cottages and many ornamented shotgun dwellings. Due to its odd shape (following the bend in the Mississippi River), locals often divide the Marigny into the 'Marigny triangle' (part 1 of our tour) and the 'Marigny rectangle (part 2 of our tour).
