The goal of Geaux Paddle is to get kids who have never paddled comfortable with paddling and then out enjoying Bayou Teche, the first National Water Trail in Louisiana! This program will happen on Saturday, May 23, and include safety instruction, an experiment on water testing, paddle to New Iberia City Park and an art project with local artist Jeanne Judice. The paddle portion will also teach about wood duck boxes and the importance of providing safe nest sites for reproduction; education on flora and fauna and the importance of native plants; and trash pickup. See the full schedule below.Advance registration is required. Refunds for cancellations will not be offered after May15. Kayaks/canoes, lifejackets and drinks will be provided. If you'd like to bring your own kayak/canoe, just let us know.
