The Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Iberia Medical Center are hosting free cardiovascular screenings, as well as women’s heart health presentations, at CIS New Iberia (500 N Lewis St, Suite 100, New Iberia, LA 70563) on Tuesday, February 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Guests will receive a complimentary Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Blood Pressure Screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Results will be reviewed on site. Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
