The two ensembles present the Yale premiere of their co-commission "Vespers (walking in beauty)" by Susan Botti. This piece is ritualistic, reflective, and, in turns mournful, chaotic, grateful, and meditative. The texts are in Latin, French, and English; and address the cycles and patterns of life that connect us all. 

● Active Galactic Nuclei by Rory Bricca, Yale Class of 2026, with live projections. Originally written for orchestra (and premiered by the Boston Pops), Bricca transcribed his black-hole inspired piece for the Yale Concert Band. Tonight’s performance is a world premiere 

● Richard Wagner wrote Trauersinfonie (literally “mourning symphony”) to accompany the funeral procession of one of his earliest heroes and significant composers of the Romantic school: Carl Maria von Weber. This version, Trauermusik, was arranged for band by Michael Votta and John Boyd.
