Carrie Newcomer

Carrie Newcomer is a renowned songwriter, recording artist, author, and activist known for her contemplative “prairie mystic” style. She has released 20 nationally acclaimed albums and several books of poetry and essays. Her work has earned broad recognition, including a Grammy-featured song with Nickel Creek and an Emmy for her PBS special An Evening with Carrie Newcomer.



A cultural ambassador and humanitarian, she has collaborated internationally—most notably with Indian sarod master Amjad Ali Khan—and performed in communities across India, Kenya, and the Middle East. She has received honors such as an honorary degree from Goshen College and the Shalem Institute’s Contemplative Voices Award.



Newcomer’s recent work includes a popular Substack and The Growing Edge collaboration and podcast with Parker J. Palmer. Known for her resonant voice and spiritually grounded artistry, she continues to inspire through performances, retreats, and writing. She lives in South Central Indiana with her husband and two rescue dogs.
