Maple Sugaring for Adults

Description:
Come join our experienced sugar makers for a hands-on 2 hour workshop covering the basics backyard maple syrup production. The program will include; identifying maple trees, proper tapping technique, building a wood-fired block evaporator, and the finer details of filtering and the finer and finishing syrup. Various tools and equipment will be on display. All participants will leave the class with the framework and knowledge to start their own backyard maple sugaring.

Directions to the Education Barn: Follow GPS directions to the Market at 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester, Maine. Continue past the Market on Farm View Drive and take your first left onto Valley Farm Rd. Follow Valley Farm RD, staying right at the fork in the road, until you see the Smokehouse Visitors Center (white silo) on the right-hand side. Take the right hand turn immediately after the Smokehouse down to the Family Farmyard. The Education Barn is the largest barn in the farmyard.
