“Dillī ke na the kūche aurāq-e-musavvar the,Jo shakl nazar ā’ī tasvīr nazar ā’ī.”— Mir Taqi Mir

Delhi’s streets have always been more than pathways; they are illuminated pages of memory and meaning.Shahjahanabad ke Bashindon ki Dilli is an immersive walk into those very pages, where life, faith, and language flowed together to create a city unlike any other.

Led by Ashok Mathur and Abu Sufiyan, the walk unfolds how Shahjahanabad became a living canvas of communities. It explores how Hindus, Muslims, Jains, Kayasths, Sikhs and countless others shaped a shared identity, where devotion, poetry, and dialogue existed in harmony.

From the quiet devotion of Charandas ki Baghichi to the scholarly grace of Roshanpura, from the interfaith rhythm of Chipiwara to the grandeur of Jama Masjid, every stop reveals how Delhi’s cultural core was written by its people.

Here, Urdu was never the language of one faith but of all communities. Born in these lanes, it became the expression of belonging, the voice of bazaars and poets alike. The walk celebrates this living spirit of Delhi — a city that continues to speak in one language of love and coexistence.
