- **Event Description**: For our second concert of the 2025/26 series, organist Nathan Costa will present Phillip Moore's passiontide work Via Crucis. Via Crucis ("Way of the Cross") is a meditation on the Passion, a compilation of prayers by Anglican priest Eric Milner-White (1884-1963) and organ music by British composer Philip Moore (b. 1943) that depicts Christ's journey to the cross. This contemplative and at times dramatic pairing of text and music offers opportunity for continued reflection on Christ's suffering, death, and promised resurrection during the Lenten season.

Nathan Costa has served churches and schools for over 25 years, most recently in Michigan as director of music and organist at Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park and as assistant director of music and liturgist at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills. Previously, he had worked in liturgy and music in Roman Catholic and Episcopal parishes in San Diego, Delaware, and Maryland, and at St. Andrew’s School, an Episcopal boarding school in Middletown, Delaware, where for 17 years he served in teaching and administrative capacities, including as organist/choirmaster, teacher of Latin and Greek, and academic dean. Nathan is the dean of the Detroit Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He received a B.A. in Classics from Yale University and M.A. in Liturgical Music (Organ) and in Theology (Liturgy) from St. John’s University School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota. He currently lives and teaches at Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
