At the Henry County YMCA, we believe that life after 60 should be vibrant, social, and focused on wellness. We are committed to creating spaces where you can connect with peers, stay active, and feel truly at home. 

The Seniors Meet & Greet is April 15
Enjoy this opportunity to make new friends, learn about new programs and membership options at this special event happening Wednesday, April 15th at 2 pm in the Henry County YMCA Multipurpose Room. We’ll serve light refreshments and have a prize drawing. Learn how to get the most out of your Y experience. Blood pressure monitoring will start at 1:15 pm prior to the 2 pm meeting. If you are interested in getting your blood pressure reading, please come early.

March Focus: Sleep Health
The focus for the April meeting will be Sleep Health.  From our Seniors Questionnaire results, we found that 13% of those surveyed get less than 5 hours of sleep per night, 42% get only 5-6 hours of sleep per night, 40% get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and only 5% get 9-10 hours of sleep per night. Tina Bailey, Clinical Coordinator of Respiratory at Henry Community Health, will be our guest speaker. Tina holds credentials as both an RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) and RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist). 

Seniors Member Engagement and Wellness Coordinator Julia Bouslog indicated, "As sleep deficiency is linked to chronic health problems and 55% of those local seniors surveyed get only 6 or less hours of sleep each night, we are grateful to have Tina Bailey, a sleep specialist, present on sleep health at our April 15th Meet & Greet at 2 pm.”

Your insurance may cover the cost of your YMCA membership. You could have a free insurance-based YMCA membership and joiner fee waved if you have Silver Sneakers, Renew Active, or Silver & Fit. Check with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible to get a code from them. 

Even if your insurance doesn’t cover your membership, you can still make a move toward better health in the new year. Ask about income-based senior discounts and scholarships. We believe you are worth the investment in your health and happiness.
