A Private Tour of the Glass House

The Glass House, built between 1949 and 1995 by architect Philip Johnson, is a National Trust Historic Site located in New Canaan, Connecticut. The pastoral 49-acre landscape comprises fourteen structures, including the Glass House, and features a permanent collection of 20th-century painting and sculpture, along with temporary exhibitions.

This event is only open to NYSID Alumni and current students. Please provide your year of graduation for confirmation.

• All groups must check-in at the Visitor Center (199 Elm Street, New Canaan) at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. PLEASE BE PROMPT. Groups must adhere to their designated time slot(s). If your group is late, we reserve the right to shorten your tour as necessary in order to avoid interfering with other scheduled tours.

• Tours of the Glass House site include an approximately ¾ mile walk across uneven and hilly terrain. The site is ADA accessible. On-site transport is available for up to three members of each tour with advance notice. ▪Visitors are advised to wear weather-appropriate and comfortable clothing and footwear. Waterproof shoes are recommended.

• Tours will occur rain or shine. If tours are cancelled by the Glass House due to emergency weather conditions (i.e. snow, ice, flooding, thunderstorms), your reservation will be rescheduled to a new date within the same tour season. If rescheduling is not possible, group tour fees will be refunded.

• Parking is not available at the Visitor Center. If travelling via car(s) to New Canaan on a weekday, please note that parking is located one block from the Visitor Center in metered Municipal Lots.

• Full day parking passes are available from the Visitor Center and can be arranged in advance. Please advise your group members to contact the Visitor Center at 203.594.9884 to arrange for parking passes.

• Lockers and restroom facilities are available at the Visitor Center. Large purses, bags, and backpacks must be checked at the Visitor Center. Cell phone use is not permitted on tours.

• Photographs can be taken on all tours. Please note that flash photography, tripods and video recording are not allowed. Photos are for personal use only.

• A list of all attendees will be provided to the Glass House Visitor Center 48 hours prior to the date of your tour so we may assist with your check-in process.
