Craven County Partners in Education is gearing up for its 10th annual Pancakes for PIE fundraiser in support of education.
Suzanne Gifford, executive director of Partners in Education, said the tasty tradition will kick off the holiday season in downtown New Bern and brings people together in support of the Craven County school system.
Pancakes for PIE will be on Dec. 6 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Morgan’s Tavern and Grill, at 235 S. Craven St., to ultimately benefit Craven County schools, teachers and students.
Gifford said Morgan’s will be festively decorated for the holiday season, as people start the day with pancakes with whipped cream and warm syrup, bacon, sausage and a drink.
Adam and Candice Simmons, owners of Morgan’s Tavern and Grill, take time out of their holiday schedule to serve up pancake breakfasts for the annual fundraiser.
Morgan’s Tavern and Grill staff, along with Partners in Education volunteers, will be dressed in Christmas-themed sweaters and Santa caps to greet and serve guests, Gifford said.
“It is so very giving of Adam and Candice Simmons and their employees to provide the staffing, food and venue for this event,” said Brandy Popp, first vice president and chair of the Partners in Education Fundraising Committee.
“We all know Morgan’s dishes up excellent food, and our volunteers are always up for serving some PIE.”
Proceeds from the event fund Partners in Education grant programs that benefit teachers and students throughout the Craven County public school system.
Don Brinkley, president of Partners in Education, generously donates all the proceeds from Pancakes for PIE.
“This event is an excellent opportunity for our community to show their support for the Craven County school system,” Brinkley said.
Tickets are $8 per adult and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Reservations are not required for the pay-at-the-door event. Credit and debit cards, checks and cash will be accepted.
