- **Event Description**: This holiday season, give a gift to your family and to nature. Join the Waukesha County Land Conservancy for our Annual Christmas Tree Harvest at our Calhoun Creek Prairie Preserve on Saturday, November 29th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. This preserve was once a Christmas tree farm, but we’re working to restore it to its original prairie and oak savanna ecosystem. By taking home a nonnative evergreen tree, you’re not only carrying on the tradition of choosing a Christmas tree - you’re also helping bring back the open skies, wildflowers, and wildlife that once thrived here. Each tree removed lets sunlight reach the soil again, encouraging native grasses, flowers, and young oaks to return.

Celebrate the season this year while making a difference. Choose and cut your own Christmas tree, take a festive photo with Santa, craft a wreath for your home, and warm up with hot cocoa or coffee by a glowing bonfire. Pick your perfect Christmas tree for $50 or a wreath bundle for $5! Payment accepted in person (card, cash, or check) or preorder your tree online here. We’ll have a few hand saws and twine ready, but bringing your own will make the experience even easier. Our amazing volunteers will be nearby to lend a hand and help make your harvest merry and bright.

If November 29th doesn’t work for you, join us the following day on Sunday, November 30th. Santa and his helpers won’t be there that day, but the heart of this tradition remains - a chance to harvest your tree while helping restore the prairie to life.

We’re feeling extra merry and bright as the Waukesha Choral Union joins us for our Annual Christmas Tree Harvest! 

Join us from 2-3 PM to hear their beautiful carols on the preserve. We’re also welcoming North Pillar Brewing to make it even more festive, so you can enjoy a delicious drink around the bonfire while celebrating the season with friends and family. No purchase is necessary - you’re welcome to join the fun and enjoy the festivities even if you don’t take a tree home!

Later this season, you can catch the Choral Union in their upcoming performances, “Choose Something Like a Star” - a heartwarming celebration of light, harmony, and the magic of community.
