- **Event Description**: Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day will take place at the Crapo Hill Landfill on Saturday, May 2nd from 8:30 am to noon.   The event is open to Dartmouth, New Bedford, and Freetown residents only. Proof of residency is required.  Event held rain or shine.  Sign up is required. The sign up will be available a few weeks before the event.  Examples of accepted waste include: - oil-based paints - paint thinner - pesticides - herbicides - old gasoline - pool chemicals - household cleaners For a detailed list of accepted items and a video with more information about participating in the event, visit https://gnbrrmdistrict.org/hazardous-waste/. Do NOT bring latex paint. If you cannot give it away, dry out and throw away in the regular trash. Do not bring empty containers. Do NOT bring anything that is accepted at your transfer station including: - Antifreeze* - Fluorescent light bulbs and mercury containing devices* - Motor oil* - Propane (or other) tanks or cylinders* - TVs or computer monitors* The starred items listed above are accepted at your town's transfer station or recycling center. For questions about items that are accepted at your town’s transfer station or recycling center: - Dartmouth residents can call the Town of Dartmouth’s Department of Public Works at (508) 999-0740.  - New Bedford residents can call the City of New Bedford’s Department of Facilities and Fleet Management at (508) 979-1520.  - Freetown residents can call the Freetown Transfer Station at (508) 644-2202 Ext 3. The maximum amount you can bring is 25 gallons or 50 pounds. Collection is for households only. No businesses, schools, or contractors. The Crapo Hill Landfill is located at 300 Samuel Barnet Blvd. in New Bedford. **Please note that traffic flows in one direction at this event; the only way to enter is through the New Bedford Business Park.** Please enter through the New Bedford Business Park at the intersection of Phillips Road and Braley Road. Once you enter the park, you will pass the Registry of Motor Vehicles on your left. Signs will be posted to help guide you through the business park to the landfill.
