Folk stories and maritime tales, specifically those addressed within the horror genre, often depict this liminal arena with a combination of reverence, nostalgia and fear. From oral tales and ancient maps charting mysterious sea monsters to modern maritime superstitions, we have been captivated by this unique narrative space. In this session we will navigate through the origins of this liminal realm in folk horror in myth, literature, film, TV and media. Participants will receive a session workbook with discussion information, reading/watch lists, research, sources and more; notebooks, writing and craft materials will be provided.
 
Session craft: Adorn a small mirror with sand and small coastal treasures as we explore the transitional space between land and sea. 


What is a Dark Lore Workshop?

Dark Lore workshops are creative writing, research, focused deep dives on a specific topic. Useful for writing inspiration, world building, learning tools for independent research outside for an academic setting, storytelling, but mostly for fun.

Costs include:
2 hour informational discussion, substantial workbook + craft materials.

Participants will receive an exclusive workbook that covers all information discussed, along with book/watch lists, primary sources & information for future research, and creative writing prompts. 

During our sessions we will be moving our hands with craft and filling our minds with knowledge. Craft materials provided.
