Yin and Restore with Jael
Join Jael Polnac for a two-hour workshop of deep release and complete relaxation. In this practice you will experience for yourself why Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga are perfect complements. Each type of yoga is deeply therapeutic on a physical and energetic level, and Jael will connect these two practices in a way that will leave you with a sense of physical openness and mental calm. The practice will begin with a mindful meditation followed by a sequence of deeply held Yin poses. It will end with supportive Restorative postures carefully chosen to complement the physical and energetic releases of the Yin practice.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, grounding practice. The poses chosen apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, ligaments, and fascia—through long holds and an exploration of your personal, physical edge. These holds increase circulation to the joints and improve physical flexibility. Energetically, Yin Yoga targets the meridian system of the body in order to promote the free flow of energy. It is a meditative practice that aims to cultivate stillness of the body, breath, and mind.
Restorative Yoga fully supports the body for deep relaxation and passive openings. There is no holding, stretching, or strengthening involved. Restorative Yoga is all about slowing down and opening your body. By using supportive props in mindfully selected poses, this practice slows the heart rate and releases tension and stress at a very deep level. Practicing Restorative Yoga after a Yin sequence has the further benefit of allowing calm and relaxed energy to flood those newly opened energy meridians.
