White Swan Odette is about to break out of a spell when Black Swan Odile traps the Prince into breaking his vow, setting the ultimate scene stealer of the 32 fouettés in the choreographic version by Chiara Ajkun set to music by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky.
Performance: Swan Lake is pehaps the most beloved among all classical ballets. Princess Odette is transformed into a White Swan by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and must find faithful love to break the spell. Odette is a swan for all but a few hours of each night. Spellbound by the beautiful swan, Prince Siegfried sees it changing before his eyes into Princess Odette. Siegfried promises her his everlasting love. Von Rothbart deceives Siegfried into believing that his niece Odile (Black Swan) is indeed Odette. Siegfried swears to marry her, breaking the vow of fidelity. As Von Rothbart triumphs, Siegfried is left alone on the shore while the swans peacefully swim away. Performed by The Swans of the Ajkun Ballet Theatre.
Conversation: Cast member Kylie Brown and Mom Jeanie share their experience raising a ballerina, and how Moms are there for you when you're up and ready to catch you when you fall ...
The Face to Face Series was created by Artistic Director Chiara Ajkun in 2003 to offer a close-up to the performers in the intimacy of our studios and the opportunity to take photos, videos and meet the Dancers at the end of the show.
