Mandated Reporter Training: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment

Mandated Reporter Training: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment
June 13, 2018 9:30-1:30 p.m.

Description:
Are you a Mandated Reporter? Do you know how to identify signs of potential child abuse or maltreatment, and if so, do you know how to report it? If not, attend this training session which certifies you as a Mandated Reporter through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
New York State law recognizes certain professionals, such as child day care workers, as holding the important role of Mandated Reporter of child abuse or maltreatment. These professionals can be held liable by both the civil and criminal legal systems for intentionally failing to make a report of suspected abuse or maltreatment.
As a Mandated Reporter you are required by law to report suspected child abuse or maltreatment to the New York Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) immediately. Reports can be made at any time of the day and on any day of the week, by telephone at 1-800-342-3720. If you are a Mandated Reporter you can use the Mandated Reporter-specific line: (800) 635-1522.
Facilitated by Angela Mora-Vargas, LMSW, Assistant Vice President of Programs, Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA-NYC)

Please note that the workshop begins at 9:30 am. MHA-NYC will provide coffee and tea upon arrival.  Lunch will NOT be provided.  Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, and there are many lunch options near the training site.
