Great Weather for Media is delighted to present West Coast poetry sensations TONGO EISEN-MARTIN and YOUSSEF ALAOUI at the Parkside Lounge Sunday, Feb 18, 2018 at 4 p.m.

Originally from San Francisco, Tongo Eisen-Martin is a movement worker and educator who has organized against mass incarceration and extra-judicial killing of Black people throughout the United States. His latest curriculum on extrajudicial killing of Black people, We Charge Genocide Again, has been used as an educational and organizing tool throughout the country. His book of poems titled “Someone's Dead Already” was nominated for a California Book Award. His latest book titled “Heaven Is All Goodbyes” was published in the City Lights Pocket Poets series.

Youssef Alaoui has been invited to speak and read in London, Paris, Los Angeles, Tallahassee, Mexico, Egypt, and Morocco. He is a Pushcart nominee. He earned an MFA in Poetics from New College of California, Mission District, San Francisco. There, he studied with Tom Clark and David Meltzer. Youssef is an Associate Editor at Big Bridge Press. His books are The Blue Demon, Death At Sea - Poems, and Fiercer Monsters, available from Nomadic Press. Youssef’s full length poetry collection, Critics of Mystery Marvel is scheduled for publication in April 2018 from 2Leaf Press of NYC.
