GetClassical presents: Romantic Sonatas by Franck and Chopin

Vassily Primakov, piano, Oxana Mikhailoff, piano, and Robert Burkhart team up in an evening of romantic and contemporary repertoire for cello and piano.

The artists:
Cellist Robert Burkhart combines a deep commitment to the existing cello repertoire with that the New Yorker calls an adventurous spirit in new music. With performances at Alice Tully Hall, Bargemusic, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and The Rose STudio at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Burkhart has also appeared as soloist throughout Japan as member of the New York Symphonic Ensemble, and has been featured in recital on WQXR's Young Artist Showcase. An established performer in the contemporary music scene, he has recently partnered with pianist Blair McMillen in a recording project CD20/21, premiering piano/cello works of the twentieths century and current times.

Pianist Vassily Primakov has been hailed as a pianist of world class importance.Gramophone wrote that "Primakov's empathy with Chopin's spirit could hardly be more complete," and the American Record Guide stated:"Since Gilels, how many pianists have the right touch? In Chopin, no one currently playing sounds as good as this!"
"Performances of extraordinary power and beauty," commented Music Web- International on his Chopin concertos recordings.
Primakov has released numerous recordings on the Bridge Record label, and in 2011 founded - together with his often duo partner Natalia Lavrova - L.P.Classics, their own record label.

Oxana Mikhailoff is a concert pianist who also maintains an active teaching schedule. The Russian-born American pianist has won a number of awards, including the Martha Argerich International Piano Competition.Following her 1999 Carnegie Debut, she was invited back to perform an All-Chopin recital, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composer's death. With a regular performance schedule she is praised by masters and colleagues alike, as: in the words of Vladimir Feltsman " with a strong stage presence and personality, she is a mature and accomplished musician...her playing has character, imagination and is poetic," she offers piano pedagogy of the highest level at her Home School Conservatory.
