FashionSpeak Fridays: Loulou & Yves
Dauntless style made Loulou de La Falaise one of the great fashion influencers of the twentieth century. Reminiscent of Chanel and Schiaparelli, she was celebrated as an adventuress in the art of living—and the one person Yves Saint Laurent could not live without.
Yves Saint Laurent was the most influential designer of his times. For thirty years, Loulou de La Falaise was his creative right hand, inspiration and driving force behind the flamboyant accessories defining the YSL look. In Loulou and Yves: The Untold Story of Loulou de La Falaise and the House of Saint Laurent (St. Martin's Press), author Christopher Petkanas, explores the intimate personal and professional relationship between muse and designer.
Christopher Petkanas is an American author, critic and journalist. He covered Loulou de La Falaise and the House of Saint Laurent from 1982 to 1988 as a reporter at the Paris desk of Women’s Wear Daily and W magazine, revisiting Loulou again in 2010, the year before she died. His writings on the domestic arts, tastemakers, fashion, and popular music have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Paris Vogue, American Vogue, and Architectural Digest.
Loulou and YSL fashion is highly encouraged!
