Centered: Practice - Motion of the Legs

The knees are the tollbooth of the legs, collecting fees (read forces) from the structures of the lower leg below and the hip complex above. When imbalances occur anywhere along this chain the knees revoke their EZ-Pass and start to show compromised function.
In CENTERED Practice: Motion of the Legs, Jennifer Sokolov will do a broad sweep of the spiral orientation of the structures impacting the knee and hip to produce lasting flexibility, healthy motion, and deeper awareness.

Participants in the CENTERED: practice series are seeking an opportunity to dig deeper into the work they’ve previously or are soon to have studied with Madeline Black. The 3-hour workshop will be lab-based, reviewing and refining techniques with an eye towards subtler integration of CENTERED technique. Instructors will have time to practice setting up and executing sequences, receive feedback on assessment and touch, and both teach and feel the affects of the work on their own bodies.

OBJECTIVES:

· Discuss the Screw Home mechanism of the knee with an eye toward improving palpation and assessment skills, practice techniques to improve medial rotation of the tibia.
· Examine the Lateral Structures of the Leg, practice MET techniques for the IT Band and TFL, review Structures of the Lower Limbs, re-education patellar tracking
· Explore the Fibula and its relationship to knee and ankle functioning
· Learn several exercises to tune and support the legs
