At the Inkwell NYC: My Body, My Words Book Launch
Featured in Bustle as one of the "11 New Feminist Books That Could Totally Change Your Year," My Body, My Words (Big Table Publishing, due out March 1st) will bring a chorus of strong voices to the body image and identity revolution. Tonight we'll hear from six of the book's contributors:
LUCAS HUNT is a celebrated American poet and the president of HUNT Auctioneers, who was born and raised in rural Iowa. His work has been published in The New York Times, and received The John Steinbeck Award for Poetry. He is the author of IOWA, Light on the Concrete, and Lives. Lucas has helped raise millions of dollars and awareness for non-profit organizations. He graduated from World Wide College of Auctioneering, holds the coveted Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation, and is an outstanding member of the National Auctioneer’s Association. He lives in New York.
PAMELA HUGHES graduated from Brooklyn College with an MFA in Creative Writing. Her eco-themed book of poems, Meadowland Take My Hand, was released in 2017 by Three Mile Harbor Press, New York. Her work has appeared in: Canary; The Brooklyn Review; Ellipsis; Literary Mama; PANK; The Paterson Literary Review; Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow; Isotope; Thema and in other literary magazines. LILLIAN BUSTLE is an actor, singer, burlesque performer, public speaker and gleeful loudmouth about body love. SAMANTHA PAIGE ROSEN earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Sarah Lawrence College, where she was too afraid to write about herself for the entire first semester. Her bylines include The Washington Post, Ms. Magazine, The Week, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Bustle, The Huffington Post, Hypertext Magazine, The Passed Note, Beautiful Minds Magazine, and Attn. She recently began hosting a monthly writers' workshop in the Washington D.C. area, and hopes to surround herself with a community of brilliant, big-hearted storytellers wherever she may live.
