AfroBeats Edition: First Fridays

Join us for our popular monthly social gathering, where there’ll be live music, signature drinks, an opportunity to network with others in the community. This month we’re celebrating the rich sounds of Afro-Beat music, birthed by Fela Ransome Kuti! 

With our extended hours, Guests are also invited to check out our three exhibitions  With our extended hours, guests are also invited to check out our three exhibitions Black Power!, Syncretic Vibrations and InHarlem Firelei Báez: Joy out of Fire. 

Our community partner is Walker International Communications Group (WICG) provides consultation to arts organizations, performing arts, visual arts, dance companies, non-profit groups, Broadway and Off Broadway productions.  They will be onsite giving away some goodies and giving you the Intel on all Broadway Productions.

Sign up for a Schomburg membership, become a Schomburg volunteer, and visit the Schomburg Shop—while networking and dancing the night away!Our host for the night will be Dhalimu , meanwhile, DJ Birane & DJ Don from the Muoka Mills Experience will spin Afro Beat tracks in our Langston Hughes Lobby, which will further enhance our theme of the evening.

We will also have a musical performance from Teemanay aka Young Iconis one of New York finest Afrobeats Artist from Nigeria, He is set to release his debut EP and he will be performing some rsongs from that album.

For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. All registered seats are released 15 to 30 minutes before start time, so we recommend that you arrive early.
