Ravan in making Titarpur Photowalk by DPC
Ravan in making @ Titarpur Photowalk by Delhi Photography Club
Delhi Photography Club invites you for a heritage photowalk to the Ravan Effigy , at Titarpur, on 14th Oct, Sunday. The walk will start at 08.00 am and will end at 10.00 am.
Dussehra, a celebration of the victory of good over evil is a festival we all love marked by watching the humongous effigy of Ravan, the epic villain of our mythologies, being burnt to the ground. But let's rewind a little and take you to the hub where these effigies are built and tell you all about how they're created and come into form - in all shapes, colours and sizes!
Titarpur is one of those dusty urban villages in Delhi that has been swallowed up by urban expansion. While it looks like any other village during the rest of the year, it assumes a completely different look during the festive season, especially Dussehra!
Taking You Through The Hub
Titarpur is known for the seasonal industry of Ravan effigy making. The artisans here are responsible for almost all the effigies that we gleefully burn on the night of Dussehra. They spend more than a month every year building these effigies, only to see them get burnt, just like various idol-makers see their creations get immersed in the water.
How to reach there:
By Metro : Nearest station - Tagore Gardan
Auto/Cab : please reach at Tagore Garden metro Station
See you there at 8.00 am at Tagore Garden Metro Station
About Delhi Photography Club
Delhi Photography Club was setup with the intent of taking photography homes. The purpose of the DPC is to stimulate, enable, and nurture a fraternity of photography enthusiasts for mutual benefit.
Due to fast changing internet and mobile devices space, many more people are consuming photos. We want people to store their memories more beautifully. The club is perhaps the first initiative of this kind in the entire country.
To offer situations to practice photography, we do free photo walks every month. For learning the technique, we have workshops for various levels (beginner and intermediate), for motivation, we offer memberships and finally for platform, we have these exhibitions. The club also helps the underserved children to express themselves creatively through its outreach activities.
As a club, we have brought together businessmen, diplomats, doctors, lawyers, homemakers, students and children and helped them in their creative expression using a camera.
