- **Event Description**: For Delhi, 12th December 1911 proved to be a very historic day: the King-Emperor George V announced to the surprise of all present in the Coronation Durbar that the capital of British India would be shifted from Calcutta to Delhi, and the city has been India's capital since.From the dusty scattered villages in and around areas of the Raisena and Malcha hills, the bazaars of Madhoganj and hamlets of Jaisinghpura and Khairpur, and the ruins of erstwhile imperial capitals and royal burial grounds that lay to the Southeast of Moghul Delhi... arose the Grand New City, dreamt and executed to almost near perfection by the chief planners Lutyens and Baker!Thus began the saga of New Delhi's creation, and it's this period of almost 3 decades starting from 1905 that saw many a controversy, failures, hardships, and finally the grand successes and inauguration of the newest city in Delhi - New Delhi in 1931.Come join the band of history lovers, photographers & writers with the team DBF to commemorate this milestone in our nation's history.HIGHLIGHTS: This heritage walk starts at one of New Delhi’s iconic spots, Connaught Place, and then we work our way into the heart of New Delhi through a few iconic roads crucial to the city plan and architectural highlights and end at the crowning glory of the English Capital of New Delhi, the Government House Complex!Obviously our stories of how New Delhi was planned, executed and built will be powered by a quick Dilli-walla kind of nashtaa (breakfast)!The walk presentation will be done in British English! LOL!
