There’ll be a project recap and details of the disease resistant trees that were planted in January and February, as well as the 250+ trees that we shall be planting this winter (that we need some help with!).You will also hear about the status of the rare and illusive White-Letter Hairstreak butterfly in the Quantock landscape, including the sightings of both caterpillars and adult butterflies (the first in 18 years) in two Quantock locations.Learn how you can help and get involved in the project, including surveying for butterflies and planting trees.We’ll also share a little bit of detail on other locally rare or extinct butterflies that we plan to start to hunt for and even a potential re-introduction plan!If you have practical skills, or the will to get stuck in and learn, please come along and find out how you can be involved. We need volunteers to plant trees and to construct protective barriers (like the post-and-rail guard pictured above).As the project develops, we'll also need people who can write press releases, post in our Facebook group and document what we do together. If you love wildlife, you can help us to communicate the value of this important conservation project, which aims to provide habitat for rare and endangered butterflies.This is a long term, big impact initiative and we hope you'll want to be involved.
