- **Event Description**: We’re transforming the Opera House into a boot-stompin’ honky tonk for an evening packed with fun and fundraising in support of the arts! Enjoy live music from Dave Barrow and The Wheels—featuring Jeff Redefer, Dave Borowski, John Borchard, Michael Tobar, and Mark Hellenberg—a delicious buffet from Nelsonville's own Starbrick BBQ, Two-Step and Line Dancing instruction, and take a spin on our mechanical bull!

Tickets are $150 per person and include:

Buffet meal by Starbrick BBQ featuring brisket sliders, pit beans with brisket, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese (vegetarian and GF options available)
Entertainment by Dave Barrow and The Wheels
Two-Step and Line Dancing instruction
1 mechanical bull ride (additional rides are $5 each), and every ride enters you into a drawing for a pair of Rocky boots!

Dress: Country-western wear is encouraged! 

Planning to kick up your boots with a group? We’re now offering reserved tables for our Fall Fundraiser! Take advantage of our special group rates and secure a table for six for $800 or a table for eight for $1,000.
Tables are not available for purchase online and must be reserved by calling the Stuart’s Opera House Box Office at 740-753-1925 or visiting in person, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Individual tickets at $150 per person are still available online at tixr.com/e/159704.

About Dave Barrow and The Wheels

Dave Borowski – Bass & Vocals
Groove master Dave Borowski has been lighting up stages since 1973. A fixture of the Athens, Ohio music scene, Dave’s rich bass lines and soulful vocals drive every band he joins. He’s performed with local favorites including Close Enough for Jazz, Aces and Eights, the Kings of Hollywood, Common Ground, the WingNuts, and SwingBig. With over five decades of live and studio experience, Dave delivers a deep, timeless sound that keeps audiences moving.

John Borchard – Guitar, Pedal Steel, Dobro
A seasoned pro with roots from Boston to Austin, John Borchard brings polished versatility to every performance. His mastery of guitar, pedal steel, and dobro has earned him a reputation as one of the most expressive players in the region. Now based in Athens, Ohio, John is a go-to session musician and performer known for his warm tone, tasteful phrasing, and effortless blend of Americana, rock, and country styles.

Jeff Redefer – Guitar & Vocals
Veteran guitarist Jeff Redefer has spent over 60 years creating unforgettable performances across genres from jazz to rock. He’s shared the stage with top regional acts including Keesey, Broken Ring, among many others, and toured nationally as guitarist for RCA recording artists Pure Prairie League. Recently retired from leading Ohio University’s Music Production & Recording Industry program, Jeff continues to inspire audiences with his skill and love for live music.

Mark Hellenberg – Drums & Percussion
A dynamic rhythm innovator, Mark Hellenberg is celebrated nationwide for redefining percussion in contra dance and folk music. A mainstay in Athens, Ohio, he’s appeared on more than 50 recordings, including work with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and Chance McCoy. Formerly a WOUB music director and NPR producer, Mark continues to tour and record with standout groups like The Caitlin Krause band, The Bernie Nau Quartet The Wingnuts, who marked their 40th anniversary in 2025. Expect creativity, energy, and pure joy behind the kit.

Michael Tobar – Keyboards & Vocals
For over four decades, Michael Tobar has been a cornerstone of the Athens, Ohio music community. A versatile performer and respected music educator, he’s played with numerous bands and collaborated with many of the region’s best. A graduate of Ohio University and Mansfield University (PA), Michael brings warmth, depth, and musical precision to every performance. His lifelong dedication to music continues to inspire students, peers, and audiences alike.
