🐑 From Sheep to Skein
A One-Day Wool Spinning Workshop with Anne Grassham
Location: Fleecewood, Wai-iti Valley, Wakefield
Date & Time: 10am–4pm | $460
Step into the rhythm of the land and the hum of the wheel. At Fleecewood, Anne’s peaceful farmlet nestled in the Wai-iti Valley, you’ll meet the sheep, feel the lanolin-rich texture of raw wool, and learn to transform it—gently, intuitively—into yarn that carries the memory of place.
✨ What You’ll Experience:
- Meet the flock and handle freshly shorn fleece
- Finger-spin your first yarn—no tools, just touch and twist
- Learn spindle spinning, then ply your thread for strength and balance
- Try several spinning wheels, adjusting tension and rhythm for effortless flow
- Take home skeins of your own handspun wool, ready to knit, weave, or simply admire
Whether you’re a fibre artist, a curious beginner, or someone seeking a tactile, grounded day in nature—this workshop offers a gentle initiation into the ancient craft of spinning.
