Ana Lorite and Sergio Aguilar are professional puppeteers, performers and educators with over a decade of international experience.
As the founders of Naranjarte, they have toured extensively across Aotearoa and overseas, delivering workshops that blend puppetry, physical theatre, circus and creative play. Ana and Sergio create inclusive, hands-on spaces where participants are supported to explore imagination, storytelling and embodied practice with curiosity and care.
Through their project Puppets and Circus: A Trip Around the World’s Schools (2017–2020) they promoted cultural exchange and creative learning. They have delivered workshops across 14 countries, developing research on puppetry and circus in educational settings while performing their shows around the world.
In 2025, they presented a workshop at the International Festival FOF in Italy, where it was a great success—children filled the streets of Offida with their own handmade rod puppets. Ana and Sergio taught 60 children to make their own dog puppets, which paraded at the festival’s opening.
“It was a great pleasure to have this easygoing, hardworking, lovable company at FOF! Always willing to help with anything, they also conducted our puppet-making workshops for the Parade, and it was a huge success, with all the participants loving their dog puppet that they made, which they could take home!”
We ask participants to bring their own scissors, newspapers, two googly eyes, crepe paper or ribbons (for hair or decoration), and assorted coloured yarn, if possible.
