Rooted in ember- kind practice, we move between states—sensation and structure, intuition and precision, inner landscapes and collective presence—allowing the body to lead through listening, transformation, and choice. Each day begins with ember- kind practice, tuning the body toward availability, responsiveness, and articulation. Through guided scores and sensory-driven exploration, movement emerges from within, expanding range, clarity, and relational awareness. Afternoons unfold through choreographic material and creative process. We will learn, deconstruct, and reimagine phrases, working with timing, musicality, spatial awareness, and group dynamics. Daily creation and cross-disciplinary reflection support each participant in deepening their artistic voice. This intensive is for intermediate to professional dancers or artists who are curious, committed, and willing to engage in a focused and supportive environment. The process culminates in an informal studio sharing / filming —an offering of what has surfaced, shifted, and transformed through our time together. Time June 24–26 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM Location Dance Fusion Studio 601 Vernon Street Price Full intensive: $180 – $260 (sliding scale) Daily drop-in: $100 Class Elements ember- kind Practice A guided movement practice rooted in sensory awareness, availability, and choice. We work through layered scores that invite the body to shift between states—softness and power, expansion and containment—while cultivating responsiveness, clarity, and an embodied sense of timing. Floorwork (Day 1) Exploring the relationship to gravity through efficiency, yielding, and redirection. We move through spirals, pathways, and transitions that support continuity, softness, and dynamic power. Partnering (Day 2) An exploration of listening through touch, shared weight, and mutual attention. We develop trust, adaptability, and the ability to negotiate timing and risk within a shared moving dialogue. Contemporary Ballet (Day 3) A reimagined ballet-based practice approached through ember- kind principles—grounded, responsive, and articulate. Focus is placed on alignment, clarity, and expanding dynamic range without losing sensitivity. Creation Lab A space for compositional research through guided improvisation and choreographic scores. Participants generate and shape material, practicing decision-making, layering, and refinement. Repertory & Phrase Work Learning and embodying choreographic material with attention to detail, musicality, and group awareness. Emphasis is placed on texture, intention, and performance presence. Cross-Art Exploration & Reflection Time to witness, process, and articulate experience through writing, drawing, or dialogue—supporting integration and expanding connections between movement and other forms.
