This marks a notable return for British Airways, which last operated scheduled flights to Sri Lanka in 2015. However, the airline did operate a special flight to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport on January 3, 2021, in connection with the England cricket team’s tour of Sri Lanka.
At present, SriLankan Airlines remains the only airline operating direct flights between Colombo and London.
