May 2026: A discussion with Naomi Kanakia!

This is going to be a truly special version of Short Story Night. We are going to discuss John Cheever’s short story “O Youth and Beauty!” with author Naomi Kanakia. Kanakia has written extensively about the legacy of New Yorker stories on her popular Substack “Woman of Letters.” We will also discuss her brand new book (May 19, 2026) called What’s So Great About Great Books in which she defends reading the “classics.”

Naomi Kanakia is the author of three young adult novels (Enter Title Here, We Are Totally Normal, and Just Happy To Be Here) and one literary novel for adults, The Default World. Also, check out her brand new non-fiction book What’s So Great About The Great Books from Princeton Press!
