Paralio Astros on the Arcadian Coast below Nafplio is a festive place to be part of this traditionally Greek ceremony.

In the morning, the procession comes down the hill with music and chant. The priest sings, the officials give their blessings. In the meantime, young people are ready in their swimsuit in the harbor to dive for the cross. The priest goes on a boat, throws the cross in the marina and whoever retrieves it will ensure a year full of luck and prosperity. The ceremony ends with fireworks and full marina terraces with yummy Greek food and wine.
