Minnie Pearl, Rod Brasfield, Stringbean, Lonzo & Oscar, Jerry Clower, and Mike Snider are just a few of the many comic talents who have been Opry cast members. In 2023, the Grand Ole Opry brought two acclaimed comedians into the fold: Henry Cho and Gary Mule Deer. Hailing from Knoxville, Cho made his Opry debut in 2011 and performed at the Opry more than 100 times before being asked to join the cast. Mule Deer, who comes from South Dakota, performed on the show more than 160 times before his induction. The two will join in a discussion, hosted by the Museum’s Paul Kingsbury, of the Grand Ole Opry’s tradition of comedy and their own career paths to the world-famous country radio show. Video clips from past Opry comedy routines will also be part of the program. Presented in support of the exhibit Country’s Grandest Stage: The Opry at 100. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required. Free to Museum members.
