Located in the North Hollywood neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, its modest stage hosted numerous country music icons—including Country Music Hall of Fame members Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, the Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson, and Hank Williams—in the 1950s and ’60s. In later years, the club served as an incubator for the Los Angeles “cowpunk” scene and future stars Rosie Flores, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, and many others. Following a screening of the new documentary The Palomino, which chronicles the story of the club from its earliest days until its closure in 1995, Rosie Flores, James Intveld, and country music historian Scott B. Bomar will join the filmmakers and the Museum’s Erin Osmon for a conversation about the club’s significance and legacy, and the making of the new film. Ford Theater. Included with Museum admission. Program ticket required.
