MakeIt Labs
25 Crown Street, Nashua, United States
As in introduction to Laser Cutting - this class is geared to provide complete beginners with the ability to operate our Epilog Fusion Pro 48 laser cutter to cut and engrave materials such as wood, acrylic and more!
We will start with an overview of safety around the laser, materials, processes, learn some basics of designing vector outlines for cutting, preparing outlines for cutting, and physical operation and cutting/engraving on the laser.
Students should ideally have some sort of familiarity with some sort of either vector design software (Inkscape, Illustrator, Corel Draw, etc.) or some sort of 2D CAD software (Onshape, AutoCAD, LibreCAD, etc.) to to (vector) cutting. (Click the referenced links to get these tools for free!)
For more information, references and to take a peek ahead of time at some of the stuff that will be covered, see the Epilog laser page on our wiki at:

This class is a requirement for being able to operate this laser at the lab. (Members who were previously authorized on the older Rabbit QX-80 and wish to take a breifer online Rabbit-to-Epilog course may to so here).
This class is principally for members of MakeIt labs, as it is required to grant members access to the laser, but is otherwise generally open to the public.
Refunds are available only up until 8 days prior to start of the class, (minus Eventbrite fee). No-shows, or cancelations the day-of the event will be prohibited from taking the class within the following 3 months.
