Gallery 1 | The Cardboard Works 
Al Munro & Gayle Stockley 

An exhibition by artists Al Munro and Gayle Stockley, exploring colour, geometric abstraction and the application of found cardboard to non-objective painting. Works explore the materiality of cardboard - cardboard as colour, structure and surface – in combination with minimalist abstraction.

Things that are Thought to have resonance and impart solace and well-being, 
Thoughts that recall, lived experience and knowledge - 
Becoming a desire for STILLNESS away from Thoughts of chaos and rush 
acquiescing to Thoughts of transience and rhythm in life and attention to Things

Curated by Francis Jaye Johnson. 

Quirky, foreboding, delicate, spiritual, sensual, and geometric—these miniature terrains resonate beyond their boundaries. Eight artists, each with distinct material practices, explore the physicality of their chosen medium, united by themes of exploration, environment, and community, creating powerful impressions that reflect the energy between collective belonging and the expression of individuality. 
 

Exhibitions run from Friday 23 January to Sunday 15 February 2026.

Gallery opening times: Wednesday to Sunday, 12 - 5pm. 


M16 Artspace operates on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We honour and pay our respects to their traditional custodians. We acknowledge this land always was and always will be the country of Australia’s First Nations People. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Parking: M16 Artspace has free parking and dedicated disability parking spots outside the entrance. 

Wheelchair access: Ramp access at the entrance of M16, however this can be too narrow for some wheelchair users. If this proves to be the case the studio access entrance has no stairs and connects directly to the gallery, please contact us for more information! 

Bathrooms: We have one wheelchair access and gender-neutral bathroom behind the lobby in addition to two gendered bathrooms.
