Set in Rome in 1943, as World War II engulfs Italy, four children from different backgrounds form an unlikely friendship. When one of them disappears following a Nazi raid, the remaining three set off on a brave and heartfelt journey across a divided country to bring their friend home.

Directed by Claudio Bisio in his acclaimed debut behind the camera, The Last Time We Were Children is a moving reminder that even in the darkest moments of history, childhood innocence and loyalty endure.

This special NIAF screening invites our community to experience a story that reflects resilience, friendship, and the enduring spirit of the Italian people.
