This is a great opportunity to get to know this trail for the first time, or hundredth time, as each tour is a little different under the direction of our talented guides. The CREW Bird Rookery Swamp trail is part of the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (owned by the South Florida Water Management District). It includes a 1500 ft. boardwalk and nearly 12-miles of raised trails on old railroad trams. The cypress/maple swamp is home to wading birds, owls, deer, bear, panther, bobcat, limpkins and much more.Time: 9:00am - 11:30am Please arrive a little early, so that everyone is set to start at 9 AM.Distance & Difficulty: ~2.5 miles at a leisurely pace across mostly level but unpaved ground, Difficulty: 2 / 5, may be some muddy but mostly avoidable areas on the trail.What to Wear and Bring:Dress appropriately. We suggest: long pants, durable close-toed shoes, and hat.Wear or bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray.Hiking accessories, like walking stick, binoculars, camera equipment, flora and fauna guide books are optional but welcome.Bring plenty of water or re-hydration drink & snacks.Rain or Shine we'll be there.
