- **Event Name**: Wine & Wild - Sheep
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 03 Sep, 2026 at 05:30 pm – Thu, 03 Sep, 2026 at 07:30 pm (-07:00)
- **Event Description**: Join the Parks Foundation for an engaging presentation, the third installment of our 2026 Wine & Wild education series—where nature, community, and great wine come together. We will be joined by guest presenter Cori Carlson of Nature Protein Pasture to discuss the important role sheep grazing plays in managing American Canyon's open space.

We will explore the surprising connections between grazing animals, healthy soils, thriving wildlife, and clean waterways. Through stories, photos, and examples from right here in American Canyon, you'll discover how carefully managed grazing benefits native grasslands, supports birds and pollinators, improves watershed health, and helps create more resilient ecosystems. From the microscopic organisms living beneath our feet to the hawks soaring overhead, every part of our local environment is connected. Learn how healthy soils store water, support native plants, improve habitat for wildlife, and contribute to the health of the Napa River watershed. You'll also learn why grazing has long been a natural part of California's grassland ecosystems and how today's land managers use sheep as one of several tools to care for parks, open spaces, and natural areas.

Arrive early at the Wetlands Edge Trail pavilion for the wine social and special wool art craft activity beginning at 5:30 pm. The evening includes two special guests: Napa Valley Vintners and the American Canyon Soroptimists. The Napa Valley Vintners will be on-site to pour a selection of Napa Valley wines. The American Canyon Soroptimists will lead a small craft project during the wine reception. The wildlife presentation will begin at 6:00 pm.

Wine & Wild is a free, wildlife education series presented by the American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation. The quarterly series features docent-led presentations hosted by local partner wineries. Wildlife presentations are approximately one-hour and may include meet-and-greets with ambassador animals when appropriate. The wildlife presentation is free and open to the public.
