This workshop is intended to help landowners and agricultural producers learn more about this exciting technique aimed at keeping water on the landscape, using nature-based solutions and techniques pioneered by North America's largest semi-aquatic rodent! The day will begin at the MD of Ranchlands Administrative building, to learn about the principles, process, and paperwork involved in a beaver damming and log jamming project of your own. What is it? Where does it make sense? Why? How? When? All of these topics will be covered during the workshop component. In the early afternoon, we will head out to the Burke Creek Ranch to get our hands dirty building some beaver dam analogues along a tributary of Burke Creek, on the Burke Creek ranch. This will be a great opportunity to learn about both the theory and practice of LTPBR.
