This is the ability to seeing into the spirit. Divine knowledge of understanding the things as they are in spiritual realm. Ability to discern and to see the unseen.

John 1:32
"And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him."

John didn't see a "dove" but he saw the "spirit" descending LIKE a dove!
After this happening, John was able to testify the son of God. Mysteries are review through spiritual sight. The things of the spirit are seen through the spiritual sight.
